LAHN Leadership Training Workshop
Building Bridges for a Stronger Community
The Liberian Association of Hamilton and Niagara (LAHN) successfully hosted a two-part Community Development Workshop on July 31, 2025, as part of our Building Bridges initiative. This important event brought together community leaders and members to strengthen collaboration, build resilience, and foster unity in addressing the social and developmental needs of our community.
Workshop Highlights
The first session focused on leadership development and was facilitated by Dr. Calvin A. Birch, a respected Community Development Consultant from Virginia, USA. Held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop provided a dynamic space for leaders to:
Explore effective leadership strategies
Enhance communication and conflict resolution skills
Build stronger, more inclusive teams
Develop tools for navigating challenges and driving community progress
Looking Ahead
The second part of the workshop series will engage the broader community, continuing the momentum toward a more inclusive and united organization. This upcoming session will focus on shared visioning, community empowerment, and collective action.

Mother's Day Celebration
Celebrating Mother's Day & Liberian Women in Canada
In honor of Mother's Day and the incredible contributions of Liberian women in Canadian society, the Liberian Association of Hamilton Network (LAHN) hosted a vibrant two-day celebration under the empowering theme:
"Women Standup Day"
This special event brought together women from LAHN and sister organizations in a spirit of unity, generosity, and inspiration.
Act of Kindness Donation
As part of our commitment to community support, participants donated a variety of personal items to Mission Services of Hamilton. This initiative, carried out under the sub-theme "Act of Kindness Donation", highlighted the compassion and solidarity of our women, extending care to those in need.
Inspirational Indoor Program
The celebration continued with an indoor gathering featuring a powerful and uplifting conversation led by Jennifer Williams, founder of Tableland Ministries. Her words resonated deeply, encouraging women to rise, lead, and support one another in all spheres of life.
This event was a beautiful reflection of the strength, generosity, and leadership of Liberian women in Canada. We thank all who participated and look forward to continuing our mission of empowerment and community service.
LAHN Garden Project
LAHN Garden Project: Cultivating Culture, Community, and Connection
The Liberian Association of Hamilton & Niagara (LAHN) is proud to launch the LAHN Garden Project, a vibrant initiative designed to strengthen cultural identity, promote food security, and foster community engagement among Liberian-Canadians and other residents in the region.
The garden will serve as a space where community members can grow traditional African crops like Bitterballs, Kittily, jute leaves, potato leaves, Malabar spinach, lemon grass - plants that hold deep cultural significance and nutritional value. The project aims to preserve heritage while promoting wellness and sustainability.
But the LAHN Garden Project is more than just planting seeds—it’s about growing relationships. Through hands-on workshops, intergenerational learning, and volunteer opportunities, the garden will become a hub for storytelling, skill-sharing, and community building. Seniors will pass down knowledge, youth will gain new skills, and newcomers will find a welcoming space to connect and contribute.








Liberian Independence Day Celebration
LAHN Celebrates Liberian Independence Day in Toronto Under Historic Sister MOU
The Liberian Association of Hamilton Network (LAHN) proudly joined fellow Liberian communities across Ontario to celebrate Liberian Independence Day in Toronto. This year’s celebration was hosted by the Liberian Association of Toronto and Surrounding Areas (LATS), bringing together Liberians from across the province in a vibrant display of unity, culture, and pride.
This event marked a significant milestone under the Sister Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Liberian organizations in Kitchener, London (two organizations), Windsor, Toronto, and Hamilton. The MOU was established to foster unity, collaboration, and mutual support among Liberian communities throughout Ontario.
By coming together under this shared commitment, the participating organizations aim to strengthen community ties, amplify their collective voice, and celebrate their rich heritage in a spirit of togetherness.
LAHN is honored to be part of this growing network and looks forward to continued collaboration and shared celebrations in the years to come.
